Final Preparations

We are starting our trip tomorrow Friday at 7:30am.  We will be trailering our motorcycles from Dallas to Reynosa (500 miles of boring as hell highway), leave the trucks there, and head into Mexico on Saturday.

Looks like we are all set - everybody has their passports, motorcycle import permits, entry permits, insurance, MedJet cards, SPOT tracking, and, most importantly, well maintained motorcycles with fresh tires, oil, brake pads, etc.

The final group includes Charles Smyth on a KTM 1190, John Hubbard on a BMW 800GS, Mike Bernard on a BMW R1200S, and Rene Larrave, Andy Scott, and Richard Myers on BMW 1200GS Adventures.

Last night at Bike Night (see picture) we had a brief discussion around what route we will take to get back once we reach Veracruz.  So far we have 2 options: one is through the center of Mexico to be able to visit San Miguel de Allende again and the other is to go wild and follow the coast North through Tampico and then on to the border.  The conclusion (in good adventure- mode) was that we will just play it by ear and make it up as we go : )
