Motorcycles and Gale Force Winds

We left Ciudad Valles early, as expected, ready to make a dash to the border.  Great riding in the morning through beautiful twisty roads, mountains and farms.  We had lunch in Ciudad Victoria at the same place we had lunch on the way in and headed north to the border.

Apparently, a cold front was coming from Texas which created gale-force winds through most of our ride in the afternoon.  Interesting how you are quickly reminded that you need to pay special attention when you are taking tight banked curves in the mountains with 50mph wind on your right changing to 50mph wind on your left half way through the turn!  Not for the fain hearted.

Other than a dust storm so thick that you could not see anything for a minute or two, the ride was uneventful and we made it to Reynosa in time to load our bikes on the trucks ready for our journey back to Dallas tomorrow at 5am.

All in all a great adventure!  This part of Mexico (the East side) is completely different than anything else we had done before.  Because this area is not a well known tourist destination outside of Mexico, it makes for a very unique and real experience. The hotels are quirky, the infrastructure is rough, the towns are unique, the natural beauty is one of a kind ... and best of all, the people are real and very very nice.

We discovered a great collection of Pueblos Magicos (Xico, Huautenango, Orizaba, Real del Monte, Huamantla, Tamazunchale, etc.) which showcase the real Mexico each with its own unique culture.

This is the end of our 2019 Motopia adventure to Mexico ... everybody made it in one piece! ... and healthy (well, mostly healthy  : )

We are famous!
