After a nice breakfast, loading the bikes to the tilt, and filling up we headed straight south. The first 4 hours were pretty much a straight line all the way to Ciudad Victoria. Almost no traffic, nice roads, vast plains. We did have a short stop at an orange stand for some juice ... incredible! And, another one for some mango juice ... and a jet-boil latte.
The road after Ciudad Victoria was full of nice sweepers, great views ... the mountains started to show up and we had some awesome tight corners here and there to keep us awake : )
After 10 hours on the road (longest day of the trip), we finally made it to Aquismon for the night. Otilia met us at the main plaza and rode with us back to her B&B. An amazing place next to the mountain and in the jungle at the same time. We had dinner al fresco and Sagy and her mom and sister joined us for dinner. Great setting. After dinner, we went for a walk to the plaza and check out their famous "raspas" (shaved ice).
We are going to bed early because tomorrow we are getting up at 5am to go see the swallows come out of the famous "Cave of Swallows" ... a huge 1,400 ft deep hole. Apparently, nirvana for base jumpers.

A proper Mexican lunch in Ciudad Victoria.
A nice stop for orange juice - it is getting hotter down here.
And a stop for mango juice ... and jet-boil lattes.
We made it to Aquismon - waiting for Otty to lead us home.
We made it to our B&B in Aquismon - everything is very green around here.
Sagy and her family had a typical embroidered banner from this region made for us!
What? A big fat colorful bird outside my room?
This statue of a Huasteca native woman with child in the main plaza was commissioned by Otty's grandfather.
The famous "raspas" of Aquismon - shaved ice
Our dinner - a typical plate from the region
Dinner al fresco!
